The Great Grants Program rewards high schools that have a spirited approach to supporting the community blood supply by hosting blood drives and including automation at appropriate drives. Great Grants will be awarded to 24 participating schools that have met the following criteria within a year’s time, starting on June 1, 2016 and ending on May 31, 2017.
If your school currently hosts Carter BloodCare blood drives, you need to:
Meet your goal
Host all blood drives during school hours
Attend a Great Leaders Initiative event
Host a minimum of two blood drives during the school year
Host an additional blood drive during a time of need (and meet the goals set)
June, July, or August 2016
September 1-9, 2016
November 21, 2016 - January 13, 2017
If your school is not currently hosting Carter BloodCare blood drives, you need to:
Host a minimum of two blood drives and achieve the goal(s) established (one needs to be during a time of need – see above);
Blood drive goal(s) will be established in conjunction with your Carter BloodCare consultant. Typically, a drive goal should equal or be greater than 20% of senior class with a minimum of 20. However, this may vary based on date of your blood drive and inventory needs.
Carter BloodCare’s Great Leaders Initiative can help you learn how to inspire others to save lives. Our one-day workshop for area students features dynamic guest speakers, tours of our facilities, information on how blood banking works and what you can do to help.
The Great Leaders Initiative will provide your high school’s leadership team with an up-close look at how blood donation and volunteering strengthens communities. The day-long conference may include:
“This is a great way to build momentum with our high school drives and help create some amazing future leaders. We are looking forward to these events growing every year.”
