Honor Cord Program

Honor Cord Program

The Honor Cord program recognizes excellence in participation in the high school's blood drive program and emphasizes the value of community service through blood donation, while promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The school must host two blood drives during the school year and seniors need approval from administration to wear the cords at graduation.

Eligibility

The Honor Cord Program awards students who have made the choice to participate in the life-saving act of blood donation by giving at least two times during their Senior year. Donations can be made at a Carter BloodCare high school blood drive. Students ineligible to donate due to age, weight, or other restrictions may be eligible by asking an adult to give in their name. Students cannot donate for other students. Additionally, students ineligible to give blood may be eligible by actively participating as a volunteer on their high school’s blood drive committee.

  • Deferrals do not count.
  • Double reds count as one donation.
